Here’s what Marian had to say:
Beginners Beat The Bulge – Week 2
“Time flies when having fun.. Monday. Man with a clipboard, a stranger, don’t want to let him down, pull in stomach and stand on scales. Nervous chatter. Clipboard man says, “shorter class”, he forgot to say harder. I hear the dreaded words, “use your body weight”. Jumping jacks, high knees. The easiest of things, I find them so difficult. Tough class but I love that I’m allowed to sweat, struggle and be unfit and no one takes any notice. Feel like I’m part of something good.Wednesday. Circuits, this is good, different stations make the time fly but with 10 mins to go, the dreaded words” bodyweight”. Up, down, in, out, bend, but I did 2×10 reps of geriatric, overweight burpees! Did 5k walk this evening, shattered. Food. Learning to love food. For the 1st time in years I’m hungry. Proper hungry, a good feeling. Not hungry like the morning after a feed of wine. Hungry with an appetite, appreciating and enjoying what I eat. Trying to follow the clean eating plan.
Wednesday. Wine…..husband offered me wine, normally I’d bite the hand off him, bit the head off him and accused him of sabotage, all picture and no sound for a couple of hours. Thursday. Wanted to go to the boxing but was shattered. Hungry all day, porridge for breakfast, chicken salad for lunch, wasabi salmon for dinner. Had to stop myself eating my entire days’ worth of food by 3 o’clock.
Friday. Today’s class was great. Some difference 12 days makes. Still hard but hitting little milestones on the way. Did a couple of full press ups! Another eureka moment doing shoulder press with 2x6kg kettle bells. Changed them to 2x4kg during exercise, trainer “why change them”, me “too heavy”, trainer “you were doing fine with the others” Changed back and used the heavier ones. Didn’t take the easy option. Realised I’m carrying around with me every day 4x 6kg kettle bells in extra weight. Eeek.
Saturday. Food. Mams taxi busy all day. Had porridge in the am but struggled with food cravings all afternoon and evening. Ate turkey mince chilli and spinach, then spicy veg, then carrots and hummus. A chilled bottle of Chablis called me all evening. Pretended I couldn’t hear it and went to bed feeling virtuous and deprived at the same time.
Sunday. Did the spinning again. Great start to Sunday, 11am exercise done. Tomorrow will tell …”
Excellent work Marian! We’re looking forward to reading more about your journey as the weeks progress!
