Regarding the meal plans, use these as guide to how you should structure your meals throughout the day. You don’t need to follow them exactly as they appear, although you can if you wish! By having a structure to your daily food intake, you will ensure your energy levels remain stable throughout the day, you recover properly from your workouts, and when normal life resumes you will still feel fit and healthy.
Remember, many of us may be less physically active due to the lock-down restrictions, so be cognisant of this when you are thinking of portion sizes especially for carbohydrates. On days where you are doing little or no exercise, you can afford to consume less carbohydrates.
Hi joanne, i have overdone it on the food over the weekend and havent been great since lockdown. Feel like ive undone all my hard work… Do you think i should reduce calories or follow the mealplan here to get back on track? Thanks Mairéad
Hi Mairead, the best thing would be to pull back on the carbohydrates for a few days i.e. bread, rice, pasta and potatoes. Maintain your protein intake as this will help you feel full and reduce sugar cravings. Eat lots of other vegetables to keep your fibre intake up, and lots of water. Your calories will automatically reduce if you do this. Let me know if you have any other questions.
